LUCYS FLAW?

What is lucys law and what was it designed to do?

We followed this legislation in England from the start and we rang as many alarm bells as we could, nobody listened. Pet theft and organised crime, a shortage of pets where ordinary people couldnt afford a pet and someone would mug you for your dog, those were our main objections. We told you so DEFRA.

The Lucys Law consultation document was very clear, this is a ban on third party sales, the line would be inserted “which they themselves have bred”. Why then did we read the headlines about the end of petshops? Because the licensing system was completely overhauled just a year earlier, there are no licenses for petshops any more than there are licenses for puppy farms. To the uninitiated this gets mind numbing, a lot of our politicians quoted in the media clearly had no more clue than anyone else what the law was actually doing and what it was meant to achieve. Lets be honest legislation is not the easiest thing to read.

A great fuss has been made about two new dog breeding licenses issued in the Fermanagh Omagh council area, their subverting anti puppy farm laws? really? Lucys law was a ban on third party sales, these businesses are breeding dogs and selling them accross more than one physical location within the UK, there are no dealers and no third parties, that means full accountability and traceability within the UK licensing system, one of the most stringest there is.

They came to Northern Ireland to get around Lucys Law? NO, WRONG, they are fully compliant with it as confirmed by every branch of government, they are allowed to breed anywhere in the UK, whats more they are getting it right, their animals are bred to a higher standard than 99% of the pets bred in the UK. They have been getting it right for many years which is why they are still in business, the UK public wont tolerate failure despite what you might be led to believe by the Animal rights people.

Why shoudn’t Northern Ireland be a centre of excellence for dog breeding?

Why did they come here?

Perhaps because the site in question has had multiple millions spent on it on the last 5 years alone and its a unique place?

Because the dogs who live there have generations of excellence in their bloodlines, where can you find them?

Because the people who work there have combined skills and experience which puts them at the top of their profession?

Because they have bred more litters and created more happy pets than anyone else on the planet?

Because its an Academy? A centre of excellence and learning. There are a lot of people who dont like that, it threatens some powerful people. It has succeeded despite of them, we believe the academy is the FUTURE of dog breeding.

The future is in professional dog breeding, we need new people, using the latest technology to breed the pets everyone needs, we need more pets not less, There is a GLOBAL SHORTAGE of pets.

Dog breeding is not a business? its just a multi billion pound global industry but dont worry the little old lady next door breeds all your pets? NONSENSE

We say its time for the truth, the UK public want to get healthy happy pets bred in the UK, we need more professionals here not less. Lets start telling the truth.
